Permanently deleting your Facebook account means losing all your profile information, photos, posts, videos, and other content. If there is any data you want to keep, make sure to download or back it up before initiating the deletion process. If you use your Facebook account to log in to other apps or services, deleting your Facebook account may result in losing access to those accounts. Consider creating alternative login methods for these services.

This guide will walk you through the step-by-step process of permanently deleting your Facebook account.

Deleting Facebook Account

Access your Facebook account by entering your login credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to Settings.

Click on your profile picture at the top right corner of the Facebook homepage. Then, select Settings & Privacy and click on Settings from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Navigate to the Accounts Center.

Navigate to the top left of your screen and access the Accounts Center by clicking on it.

Step 4: Navigate to Personal Details.

Under Account Settings, click on Personal Details and choose Account Ownership and Control.

Step 5: Select Deactivation or Deletion.

Within the Account Ownership and Control section, select Deactivation or deletion to initiate the process.

Step 6: Select the Account or Profile.

From the options provided, choose the specific account or profile you wish to delete.

Step 7: Confirm the Deletion.

Once you've selected the account, click on Delete account to confirm your decision. Click Continue to proceed with the deletion process.

Step 8: Provide a Reason.

Select a reason for deleting your account from the options provided, such as privacy concerns or no longer finding Facebook useful. If none apply, you can proceed without selecting one by clicking Continue.

Step 9: Review Suggestions and Reminders

Before permanently deleting your account, Facebook will provide suggestions, such as deactivating your account instead of deleting it, and reminders to download or transfer your information. You can also learn more about account deletion. Scroll down and click Continue.

Step 10: Re-enter Password

Enter your password and click Continue.

Step 11: Confirm Account Deletion

Read the information about your account deletion; it will show you the exact date and how to stop it if you change your mind. To keep your account deletion scheduled in 30 days, click Delete Account and Confirm Deletion.

Step 12: Your Account will enter a 30-day Grace Period.

During this time, your account remains deactivated but can be restored by logging back in. The grace period provides an opportunity for users to evaluate if a permanent deletion is the right choice for them.

Step 13: Avoid Logging In.

Resist the urge to log in during the 30-day waiting period. If you log in at any point during these 30 days, it indicates that you want to keep your account, and the deletion process will be halted.

Step 14: Your Account is now Permanently Deleted.

After 30 days, Facebook permanently deletes your account and associated data.

Step 15: Verify the Deletion.

Check that your account is no longer accessible by trying to log in.
