Esse Health data breach has prompted the release of the personal and medical data of over 263,000 patients, which is one of the most significant healthcare-related cyberattacks in Missouri so far. According to a blog post update issued by the St. Louis-based healthcare provider in June 2025, its unauthorized system access had taken place back in the beginning of the year.
Esse Health set up an internal inquiry and even contacted outside cybersecurity experts to look into the damage after finding out about the incident. Affected patients of the Esse Health data breach are being informed and getting an opportunity to get free of cost credit monitoring and identity protection services.
Upon detecting the attack, Esse Health launched an internal investigation and engaged third-party cybersecurity firms to assess the damage. Patients affected by the Esse Health data breach have been notified and are being offered free credit monitoring and identity protection services.
According to healthcare cybersecurity professionals, Esse Health data breach-like cyberattacks are part of an emerging trend, as the most frequent victims of ransomware groups and other cybercriminals are willing to pay a lot of money to keep their high-value personal data safe. Organizations are reminded to increase their security by adopting multi-factor authentication, undertaking frequent threat analysis, and training workers on cybersecurity.
